Most Legal Cashier roles read like a checklist. Tick this. Process that. Reconcile something before lunch, this isn’t that.
This is a role for someone who actually understands why the numbers matter. Someone who knows that compliance isn’t just a box to tick, it’s the backbone of trust. Someone who takes quiet pride in getting things right when no one’s watching.
You won’t find layers of bureaucracy here, you’ll find a team of experienced, switched-on people who enjoy what they do and want to do it better. Everyone contributes, everyone’s trusted, and everyone’s expected to bring something to the table.
The role:
You’ll be the person who keeps things moving behind the scenes accurately, efficiently, and without fuss.
Day to day, that means:
- Making sure everything aligns with SRA and Law Society Accounts Rules
- Handling client and office receipts without things slipping through the cracks
- Managing disbursements and third-party payments
- Supporting credit control (and not avoiding the awkward conversations)
- Calculating and managing client interest
- Assisting with audits (internal and external)
- Owning the purchase ledger and expenses process
- Keeping petty cash in check
- Working closely with PAs on monthly billing
- Resolving ledger queries without drama
What do you need?
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Legal Cashier (or very close to it)
- A good understanding of SRA Accounts Rules
- Attention to detail that borders on obsessive (in a good way)
- The ability to manage volume without letting standards slip
- Confidence working with finance systems and Excel
- A calm, organised approach when things get busy
- And the kind of communication style that makes people actually want to work with you
What you’ll get:
- An annual salary of up to £32k (depending on experience)
- Bonus scheme
- Generous holiday allowance + your birthday off
- Pension
- Death in service benefit
- A genuinely supportive environment (not just words on a page)
